Your idyllic getaway, close to Sandton

You are away from the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to be in it if you want. Only 20 minutes from Broadacres.

This is an ideal place to live or weekend.

Starry nights, peaceful, quiet, gurgling river (Jukskei)

As much water as you need for normal irrigation of gardens, domestic use and dam.

Beautiful windmill, but, unfortunately, no water in this borehole. The water purification is situated under these holding tanks.

Irrigated tunnel

Grow your own organic veggies

Just walk outside and pick fresh veggies and herbs for the pot

Our first lettuce from the tunnel & peppers ripening

Flowers next to the bee hive which produces about 40 x 500ml bottles of honey per season

The bees are near the exit to the water drainage from the kitchen and children's bathroom and therefore don't have far to forage for water. There is a plentiful supply of flowers in summer and large numbers of aloes in winter.

Working from the Wendy House office, next to the garage, you would typically look out onto this scene

Zebra, Wildebeest, Blesbok, Bush Pig, Black Pot Bellied pigs come to the dam to drink

Chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, dogs and cats are also happy residents.

Home time

Hand rearing Moo and Gnu

Access around the perimeter of the smallholding is via a scraped road which is cleaned in winter and assists as a firebreak. Grass is allowed to grow in summer to prevent erosion.

Property

The property is 23Ha surrounded by an electrified 1.8m Bonnox game fence and has a motorised main gate operated by remote control.

A small portion has been fenced off and houses the statutory tenant, the workshop, stores and servants accommodation.

Electricity is supplied by Eskom. There is an 11KVa transformer on the property.

All water comes from the Jukskei river. Drinking and house water is pumped from the river into a settling tank, from there through a sand filter to an Aquamat purification system where chlorine and alum are added to the water as it goes to storage tanks. From the storage tanks it is fed into the clean water system through a sand filter, then a carbon filter. Irrigation water is taken directly from the settling tank.

Main house

We have so enjoyed the flexibility of this farm house

Which has a 3 car garage, a wendy house, (office) with its own bathroom (bath, toilet, basin) 3x3 office area and patio.

The house has four bedrooms, two sharing a bathroom and two en suite, pantry, kitchen - living room, which opens onto the lounge, dining room, front and rear patios running the length of the house. A corrugated iron roof with insulated ceiling. Within the fenced area is a pool, tunnel, small duck pond and brick built kennels matching the house

A fire on a chilly evening in the kitchen living area with dining room next door

The patio along the back of the house from which the picture of the Wildebeest (Gnu) was taken

Front entertainment patio running the full length of the house overlooking the pool (ducks taking a brief nap on the edge)

Main bedroom with walk in cupboard and bathroom en suite

Rented accommodation

This house has 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms. It also has a guest toilet, kitchenette, dining room and lounge with twin carport. It has a tiled roof and insulated ceiling, is situated at the high point of the farm and probably has the best views.

Semi detached units

The one unit has been refurbished and has two bedrooms with one bathroom, lounge, dining room and kitchenette with a single garage and the patio in front of the garage area serves as a carport. It has a Corrugated iron roof and insulated ceiling.

The other unit is semi built and can be converted to your heart's desire. We have a sketch of our plans for the future if you desire.

Other buildings on the farm include

Workshop

100 square meter tiled workshop with sliding door

Store room

Open corrugated storage area

Uncompleted rooms (offices)

Container

Servants accommodation

Three servants rooms, one with shower, basin and toilet and the other two rooms only. A Kitchen bathroom washing area (shared)

This has been a long process.

As time has passed and the children have grown our lives have gravitated to town and the pressure is for us to be closer to work and the children's friends.

Access

Two methods of access

At present we have access through Monaghan farm, subject to their rules and regulations and a 40km/hr speed limit. Continuation would be subject to negotiation. This route passes by Lanseria airport

The other route is off the R511next to Northern Farm and is approximately 12Km of dirt road, the most beautiful drive, with views of other farms and the Magaliesberg in the distance. At night the lights of Lanseria can be seen from the road.

Or bring your helicopter
